Welcome to my new blog, a space dedicated to diving into international transitions in all their forms. Through this blog, I aim to share tips, tools, personal stories, and insights into adaptation strategies and research related to the challenges of expatriation, enriched by my consolidated experiences as a student, professional, parent, and life partner. Join me in this exciting adventure, which is both a journey outward across continents and an inward journey through the different phases of our life.
From my childhood, I was introduced to the joys and challenges of expatriation, a passion for discovering new cultures and ways of life that has only grown. These early experiences, thanks to my family, paved the way for a life filled with international adventures. From Africa to Latin America, and back to Canada, my home country, with immigrant friends and new Canadians, each destination has been a unique chapter in my intercultural learning.
As a professional working in the international field — diplomacy, public affairs, and development — my journey continues! It is complemented by experiences and training in facilitation, organizational development, and coaching. These have allowed me to navigate through the complexities of international transitions but also to continue learning from and share with friends and colleagues from across the globe.
A recurring theme close to my heart is family adaptation, and particularly that of the children and the life partner. These travel companions play a crucial role in the success of the international adventure. I intend this blog to also shine a light on these discreet but central heroes by sharing strategies to facilitate their transition and celebrate their creativity to adapt and often to re-invent themselves. I aspire to eventually create a network, a community.
I hope this space serves as a lighthouse for those navigating the sometimes tumultuous waters of expatriation. Whether you are at the beginning of your adventure or a veteran of international moves, you can hopefully find here a source of inspiration, comfort, and practical advice.
Together, let's explore the joys and challenges of international transitions, sharing our stories and learning from each other!
I also welcome your questions, insights and tips of challenges or successes in global transition in English, en français, em português o en español.
Sincerely,
Pascale
